Welsh Pensioners Parliament Activists in Cardiff - October 2005

Our Bob called for Action this day!

While attending the Pensioners Parliament in Blackpool earlier in the year, the NPC announced a countrywide  day of action in support of the delivery of the pensioners charter to MPs at Westminster.  On this day the NPC was to seek their charter of rights for pensionable persons would be presented to MPs of all parties - seeking  to enshroud its contents and demands in law.

Bob, our retired Secretary,  realised that this important date clashed with the Unison Retired members Conference to be held in Cardiff, and approached Colin Derrig on the Unions retired members committee, if he would call for and recommend the delegates attending the Cardiff conference should be given a fair chance to add their weight to any local activities by the NPC in that City.

It was fitting then, that October 12th found our delegates massed under the memorial statue of Aneurin Bevan, -  joining forces with the local NPC demonstrators in a lunch time demonstration and march of the City streets, supporting the implementation of the demands being made in London.
